چکیده

Tibicinoides, with three small endemic California cicada species, has a confusing, intertwined systematic history Okanagana that we unravel here. An ingroup including all species of Tibicinoides and the majority (84.7%) were sampled for six gene regions, polarized Clidophleps, Okanagodes, Subpsaltria, Tibicina outgroups, subjected to Bayesian phylogenetic analysis. Although was monophyletic from outgroups Tibicina, rendered paraphyletic among two major clades. To bring classification into agreement phylogeny, redescribe redefine include hooked uncus in male genitalia, which grouped type T. cupreosparsa (Uhler, 1889) first these clades: boweni (Chatfield-Taylor & Cole, 2020) comb. n., catalina (Davis, 1936) hesperia 1876) mercedita 1915), minuta pallidula 1917a) pernix (Bliven, 1964) rubrovenosa 1915) simulata 1921) striatipes (Haldeman, 1852) uncinata (Van Duzee, utahensis 1919) vanduzeei (Distant, 1914) n. is redescribed restricted second clade contained O. rimosa (Say, 1830). Substrate vibrations during acoustic signalling in the cicada Okanagana rimosa

Males of the North American cicada Okanagana rimosa (Homoptera: Cicadidae, Tibicininae) emit loud airborne acoustic signals for intraspecific communication. Specialised vibratory signals could not be detected; however, the airborne signal induced substrate vibrations. Both auditory and vibratory spectra peak in the range from 7-10 kHz. Thus, the vibrations show similar frequency components to t...

Endothermy and chorusing behaviour in the African platypleurine cicada Pycna semiclara (Germar, 1834) (Hemiptera: Cicadidae)

Cicadas use acoustic signals to find mates and therefore offer a phylogenetically independent opportunity to test the generality of ideas about acoustic communication that were developed from studies of other animals. Pycna semiclara (Germar, 1834) (Hemiptera: Cicadidae) is a forest-dwelling platypleurine cicada that uses its calling song to form choruses and attract mates. Additionally, P. sem...

Analysis of Inter-Individual Bacterial Variation in Gut of Cicada Meimuna mongolica (Hemiptera: Cicadidae)

Intestinal bacterial community plays a crucial role in the nutrition, development, survival, and reproduction of insects. When compared with other insects with piercing-sucking mouthparts, the habitats of cicada nymphs and adults are totally different. However, little is known about the differences in the gut bacterial communities in the nymphs and adults within any cicada species. The diversit...

On the cicada genus Nipponosemia Kato, with description of one new species from China (Hemiptera, Cicadidae)

The cicada genus Nipponosemia Kato is reviewed. Four species are illustrated, photographed and described, including three known species and one new species. A key to all species of this genusis presented, and information on the biology of Nipponosemia are provided. The systematic status of the tribe Cicadatrini and biogeography of Nipponosemia are discussed.
